There are those who say that this new Star Trek is a generic Science Fiction story with the cast of Star Trek inserted in. They use this only as a means of describing the movie, but I think they may be more accurate than they think. I have a vague feeling that this story was originally the struggle against a generic space tyrant who went around trying to wreak havoc. There's very little of the spirit of Star Trek.
Still, I challenge even the most cynical Trekkie to see the new Enterprise and not feel a thrill, or see the crew get together and not feel some joy. It really is something wonderful to see a Star Trek made with lots of money. I hope the next one has more of Star Trek's spirit.
