2009 In Film

If you want to refresh your memory of 2009, check out Wikipedia here. Of the top ten grossing films of 2009, only Up was worth watching, although I heard The Hangover was funny.

Good movies of 2009 that I saw:
Star Trek
Up
District 9
Inglorious Basterds

OK movies that I saw
Coraline
Watchmen
Monsters Vs Aliens
Ponyo
The Informant!
The Invention Of Lying
Sherlock Holmes
Men Who Stare At Goats

I hope you understand this isn't a comprehensive list of movies, I missed many movies from 2009. The order is simply in the order of release, I'm not ranking them in any particular way.

Anyway, 12 movies in a year isn't too bad, that's a decent movie every month.

Blogging?

So I'm a bad blogger. It's been two weeks since my last post, and that was an apology for the previous lack of posting. I've seen too many sites where the most recent post is "We'll have something else up in a moment", so I'm not promising anything. Anyway, I'm thinking about writing a long, rambling, obscure manifesto, so that's something to look forward to if I get around to it.

Even More TF2 Stuff!

Sweet TF2 update today!
  • Lots of Spy "feign death" stuff
Lots of little details to make the DR more convincing
  • Added convars to further customize the "play a hit sound whenever you injure an enemy" option
Good stuff. As it is, the "Ding" noise the game makes is enragingly annoying.
  • Added Medic Ubersaw kill taunt
This is now officially the best update ever. Second Medic update!
  • Force-a-Nature will now correctly knock back players on the ground
  • Increased minimum damage required for the Force-a-Nature to cause a knockback from 30 to 40

It's nice to think that it'll work now.
  • Changed the Direct Hit to only minicrit enemies that have been launched into the air by an explosion

Huge nerf to Direct Hit. I've already gone back to Rocket Launcher for most things anyway.
  • Increased the rate of the Soldier's Rage generation by 40%
  • Reduced the duration of the Soldier's Buff Banner effect from 14 seconds to 10

Sounds good to me. 14 Seconds meant you got to kill everyone, but it took way too long to charge. 40% faster is just what the doctor ordered.
  • Reduced the explosive damage resistance on the Chargin' Targe to 50%

This is the first in what I imagine will be a long line of Targe Nerfs.
  • Fixed the Sandman being able to bat balls through doors

Hooray, it only took a year!
  • Large number of fixes, including crafting stuff.
I'll check this stuff out later.

PS. Contribute?

I guess someone may want this for some reason. It's a good idea for them to use the community directly. I wonder how they'll implement it...

I'm Back

I haven't been blogging much lately, largely because I've been putting my thoughts down in twitter form lately.

It seems the Force 'a Nature is broken again. It's in second place to Natascha for being broken all the time. As far as I can tell, the new system for determining knockback is thus:
  1. Did you hit the Enemy? Y/N
  2. Either way, the Enemy is not knocked back.
I think this new system actually makes it easier to kill people with the Fan. Instead of popping them into the air and having to "reaquire" the target, you can just hold down Mouse1 and point at the enemy for a nice 200 damage.

I've been having a lot of fun with the crafting. I had been saving items in anticipation, and it really payed off. I got two hats in the amount of time it would normally take to get maybe one. (I got a Pyro's Beanie, which is a middling hat, and my least favorite for the Pyro. Then I got a Hatless Engie, and we all know how terrible hatlesses are, so I combined it with the Hatless Scout I had been saving for just this contingency, and got a Vintage Tyrolean, which is definitely in the top tier of hats..)

The FaN's "Force Jump" seems more powerful now. Maybe it's just psychological, but it seems like I can get a lot of life now.

Lost's Last Season

Lost is such an obnoxious show, I'm not sure it's worth watching the last season just to call shenanigans on it. Maybe I should just read the wikipedia entry once it's all over? Or maybe I should just let elblawg spoil it inevitably.

PS.
Ben used to be the only legit character, but it seems like he's taken a generous helping of "idiot" with the most recent season finale.
PPS.
Have you seen the Lostpedia? It has even more shenanigans than regular Lost. That website needs a generous dose of {Citation Needed}.
